Discrimination and exclusion in Chile
One of the social issues in Chile is discrimination and exclusion against immigrants. In the first place, the discrimination suffered by migrants causes social exclusion. Exclusion means that migrants have unequal access to their human rights, being marginalized from society and segregated in the ambit of labor, education, security and health.
Secondly, exclusion determines that the migrants population lives in a circle of poverty, which is promoted by the lack of opportunities and access. This can be seen low incomes they receive, which in many cases does not overcome the minimum wage.
Finally, this is a process not only supported by law and policies of the state, but is supported by the same population in Chile, which discriminates based on the origin of migrants (generally of the same Latin American origin) and their color of skin. This facts is important, as it is another obstacle that migrants have to integrate into the social system in Chile.
In conclusion, discrimination towards migrants not only affects the social ambit of the people, but is a process that goes further, determining that the migrants population is excluded from the society socially and economically.
